A pass-and-play election board game

Road to 270

Four candidates. One campaign trail that never stops looping. Roll the dice, make the calls that decide Iowa, New Hampshire, and Super Tuesday, and be the first to lock in $150M in Campaign Funds and 270 Electoral Votes.

Name your candidates

All 4 players share one device. Enter names and pick a party for each β€” it flavors the campaign cards you draw.

Objective

Be the first candidate to reach $150M in Campaign Funds and 270 Electoral Votes at the same time. The instant you cross both thresholds, the election is called and you win.

Setup

  • 4 players, 1 device, passed around the table.
  • Each player names their candidate and picks Democrat or Republican β€” this determines which flavor of Campaign Event, Scandal, and Endorsement cards you draw.
  • Everyone starts with $10M in funds and 0 Electoral Votes.

The Board Never Stops

There's no "start" or "finish" square. Roll, move, land on a square, resolve it, pass the device β€” and just keep going around. The only thing that ends the game is a candidate hitting both targets.

On Your Turn

  • Tap Roll Dice and move your candidate that many spaces around the board.
  • Read the short scene that plays out, then see what it means for your campaign.
  • Pass the device to the next candidate.

Key Event Rounds

Every 12 turns, the whole table pauses for a Key Event β€” a real moment from the presidential calendar (Iowa Caucus, New Hampshire Primary, Super Tuesday, the National Convention, a general election debate, and a Get-Out-The-Vote blitz). Every player, one at a time, chooses their own strategy for that moment: chase support, chase funds, or play it balanced. The calendar cycles, so if the game runs long, you'll live through Iowa again.

Why $150M and 270?

270 is the real number of Electoral Votes needed to win the presidency β€” a majority of the 538 total. $150M is a stand-in for a nationally competitive war chest. You need both money and support to actually win, just like a real campaign.
